How He Proposed

Sweet, simple, and extremely romantic. These three short words perfectly describe Michael's proposal.

On April 19th, Michael and I were preparing to celebrate our one year anniversary the very next day.  We spent the evening at Lauren and Jarrod's house (our very dear friends), and were home around 10:30.  After hitting the sack, we were both in and out of sleep for the better part of the next hour.  Finally, midnight rolled around and Michael sweetly said to me, "Happy Anniversary."  I said it back and thought to myself, Wow! How sweet of him to actually think to say it at midnight.  (Sometimes I need to give men more credit than I do!). In all honesty, I thought that was the best the night was going to get and I closed my eyes again and looked forward to our anniversary dinner the next night.

About five minutes later, Michael got up. I heard the bathroom light turn on and didn't think anything of it. Then, I heard him rummaging through the hallway closets. Again, I didn't think too hard about what he was up to and closed my eyes yet again.  A few minutes later a sweet, yet nervous, voice came from the kitchen... "Erin, can you come in here please?"  I was so frustrated that he wanted me to get out of bed that in response I said, "I'm sleeping. What do you want?"  Little did I know.  He asked again and I again replied, "What do you need me for in the kitchen right now?"  Finally, he said, "PLEASE!!". So, I stumbled out of bed, half asleep, without my glasses, to see what was up with him.  As soon as I turned into the kitchen, there was Michael, down on one knee! I was in complete shock. So much so that when he asked, "Will you marry me?", I didn't even answer the question! Of course I calmed down a bit and said "Yes."

I was so ecstatic and overwhelmed I didn't sleep a wink that night! I couldn't help but want to tell the entire world! But, it was late and most of my family and friends found out in the morning! It was the best day of my life and I will never forget how thoughtful and sweet it was. I never saw it coming and had it not been so simple, in the middle of our kitchen at midnight, I probably would have anticipated it. He did a wonderful job at making me the happiest girl in the world!

And, the ring! It's absolutely gorgeous! I stared at it all night long (with help from the light on my phone!) He did such an amazing job at picking it out; I'm in love with it!!!
